The ISO submachine gun is Season 5’s addition to Modern Warfare. The weapon is built for close-range combat. It has a fast fire rate and moderate recoil. The weapon’s biggest flaw is its low ammo capacity which we will talk about later in the guide.

Weapon background

The ISO submachine is based on the APC9 SMG in real life. It is a fast-firing low damage smg. We’ve never seen this weapon variant in a past Call of Duty.

Stats

• Damage: Head: 36-23, Chest: 25-16, Limbs: 22-14
• Rate of Fire: 875 RPM
• Recoil: Moderate(vertical)

Based on the stats above we can see that the ISO is a 4 shot to kill weapon if all shots land in the chest. The weapon will deal 36 damage to the head up close which means it will kill in 3 shots up close. Shots to limbs will take 5 or more rounds to kill. The weapon has a decent fire rate. It is similar to the MP5 but a little slower.

The best attachments for the ISO in Modern Warfare are the:

The AN-94 is a fully auto assault rifle in Modern Warfare. It’s quite like a modern version of the AK-47 AR, famous to the Call of Duty universe as well as the world. 

It’s unique in Modern Warfare as it has a hyper burst feature that fires two shots from each trigger pull as a two-round burst. This makes the accuracy of the weapon a lot better. This is in fact, the way the real AN-94 works.

The CR-56 AMAZ also known as the Galil from previous titles has made a return in Modern Warfare Season 4. The weapon can be closely compared to the AK47 because both weapons have similar stats. However, the CR-56 has a higher fire rate and therefore a faster Time to Kill. 

In addition, it also has a very effective DMR conversion kit that turns the weapon into a 2 shot kill from up to 33 meters. Provided the player lands all their shots to the body.

The DMR conversion kit is a 1 shot kill to the head at the same range. These benefits come with the downside of a much slower fire rate. Overall, players will need much better accuracy when using the DMR kit.

As mentioned above, the CR-56 is actually the Galil from previous COD titles. For whatever reason, they couldn’t use the real name. Presumably because of licensing issues. The Galil is a Black Ops 1 classic and we’re hoping Treyarch remasters BO1 someday… we can dream…

From the stats above we can see that the CR-56 AMAX is a 3 shot kill in all ranges. Sometimes the weapon can kill in 2 shots if the player lands a headshot. It has a relatively slow fire rate for an assault rifle at 630RPM. It actually has the fastest time to kill in the game at 190ms.

The best attachments for the CR-56 AMAX in Modern Warfare are the:

We can see from the stats above that the Fennec mostly kills in 4 shots in medium to close range. This also depends on whether you land all your shots. By far the weapons best feature is its insane rate of fire at 1080 rounds per minute. This is the fastest RPM of any gun in the game. The good news is that Obsidian Camos are here, the bad news is that you’ll have to grind and get a ton of kills before you get one.

How to Unlock Obsidian

Luckily, getting Obsidian camo does not require you to have the Platinum camo or Damascus camo, it does however require you to have Gold camo for the weapon.

Getting just the Gold camo can be a challenge itself because you need to unlock every other camo available for that gun in order to get the Gold camo.

Once you’ve got the Gold camo though, with some patience and grinding, you’ll eventually unlock the Obsidian camo.

Starting off with Assault Rifles, you need to get 15 kills in a match 200 times in order to unlock the Obsidian camo, totaling to a minimum of 3,000 kills to get the camo.

3,000 kills alone is already a hard challenge and requires a lot of time, but remember that you also need to get 15 kills in a match for it to count towards unlocking the camo.

Luckily, you can get 30 kills in a match and it would count as 2 out of the 200 instead of only 1, which makes it quite easier. Unfortunately, if you only get 29 kills in a match it will only count as 1.

As long as you get multiples of 15, all of them will count towards your total count. 

SMGs

For Sub-Machine guns and Light machine guns, you need to get 15 kills in a match for 150 times. SMGs are light weapons with a fast rate of fire which can make it easy for you to move around the map and easily get kills.

LMGs

LMGs on the other hand can leave you quite immobile, so it’s better to just stay in a good spot and take down your enemies as they come towards you.

Snipers & Markmans

Snipers and marksman rifles require you to get 15 kills in a match, 125 times. Again, the best approach is to stay in a location where you can easily see many enemies and killing them as they pass by.

Snipers and Marksman rifles are not great for close range combat, so keeping your distance is a must.

Pistols

You only need to accomplish 15 kills in a match, 100 times in order to unlock the Obsidian camo for pistols. However, it can be quite difficult to get kills using pistols since they are low damage weapons.

A great way to get easy kills is by blasting down your enemies using an SMG or AR and then quickly switching to your pistol and finishing them off.

Riot Shield

The shield/ Riot shield only requires you to get a total of 750 kills. Though it can be quite difficult since you are slower when using the Riot shield and it usually takes 2 hits to kill enemies. I suggest playing in Hardcore mode, so that you can 1 hit your enemies and kill multiple in a match.

Knife

Getting 10 kills in a match for 125 times using the knife will help you unlock the Obsidian for knives. Probably the easiest way to get knife kills is to sneak up on your enemies and surprising them with your combat knife.

Shotguns

For shotguns you also need 15 kills in a match for 150 times. Your best chance is getting close up to enemies to get kills. Never use shotguns at long ranges, because you’ll probably end up getting killed before you get a kill.

RPG

RPG only require you to get 5 kills in a match for 150 times. You can easily get a lot of kills when enemies are grouped up or you can choose to kill enemies one by one.

The Pila, Jokr, and Strela require you to destroy either 100 vehicles or killstreaks. 

Extra Tips to Unlock Obsidian Camo

• Getting Obsidian camos is definitely going to cost you a lot of time but here are a few additional tips that can help you reduce the time and ensure that you can get your camo in the fastest way possible.
• Always remember that having kills that are multiples of 15 in a match stack, so if you are on 28 kills try your hardest to get 30 so that it will count as 2, instead of only 1.
• Make sure to stick to a single weapon first and don’t try to get all the Obsidian camos on every weapon at the same time. Sticking to a single weapon will allow you to have an easier time grinding since you can stay focused on one weapon instead of many.
• Make sure to play small maps when you are trying to get the Obsidian camo on great close-range weapons like SMGs or shotguns. This ensures that you can easily see people quickly and get pretty close to them to get the kill.
• Pistols and Riot shield kills can be more easily done by chunking down your enemy using a different weapon and then finishing them off using the pistol or shield.
• If you are having a hard time getting to 15 kills, you can also go into Hardcore mode, where you can have an easier time to kill multiple enemies in just a single match. Just try it out and see if it works for you.
• Finally, patience is the key. Obsidian camos are not meant to be unlocked just within a day’s worth of playing. It’s a long term investment and there are no quick ways to get it aside from actually playing the game.
• Obsidian camos are probably not for the players who are looking to play 1 or 2 games a day and want to get the camo, that’s simply not how it works.
• Obsidian camos provide diehard players with extra-long term challenges to complete that can also show their expertise and skills in a specific weapon. 
• It takes a lot of dedication and time to unlock a single Obsidian camo, so make sure that you are ready to commit to a single weapon and play it for weeks or maybe even months.

Weapon background

The Bruen Mk9 is based on the M249 SAW which has appeared in many past Modern Warfare titles including COD4, MW2, and MW3. 

The weapon is and always was known for its fast fire rate with the trade-off of low/medium damage.

HOW TO UNLOCK

Players can unlock the Bruen MK9 by getting 3 kills when the enemy is near smoke using an LMG in 15 different matches.

Stats

• Damage: 34 – 24
• Rate of Fire: 759RPM
• Recoil: Vertical(sways to the left slightly)

From the stats above we can see that the Bruen Mk9 will kill in 3 shots if all shots land in the upper torso/ chest area. The weapon has the same rate of fire as the Holger-26. However, it has a slightly higher damage range meaning it has the potential to 3 shot an enemy if all shots land on target.

Class 2 – Balanced BRUEN

This Bruen class is an all round balanced class suitable for a lot of different game modes. It works best in Domination. Attach the following to the LMG:

• Skeleton Stock
• Ranger Grip

The rest of this Bruen loadout keeps in mind general ability balance to keep it suited to all play-styles.

• Secondary: The Renetti pistol once again because it’s a beast.
• Perk 1: E.O.D is an essential perk if you play objective-based game modes.
• Perk 2: Restock is an underutilized perk. Try it out more.
• Perk 3: Battle-Hardened will save you those extra few seconds of sight you need when capping a flag.
• Lethal: C4 is awesome to use when someone is capping your flag or in the Hardpoint.
• Tactical: Flash the flag or a known rush route to catch your enemies off guard.

Class 3 – Long Range Bruiser

The final class is the long range bruiser class. This class keeps in mind range. The way an LMG should be used, realistically. Load the Bruen with the following attachments:

• Perk 3: Amped speeds up your ability to pull your sniper out. So it’s a no brainer.
• Lethal: Plant a claymore on a flank route to stop enemies sneaking up behind you.
• Tactical: The Smoke is great to throw down on the flag before capping it.
